As James mentioned in class, many TV episodes show the domestic conflicts and interactions between genders. This video is part of my long time favorite show - Friends! It shows how the girls and guys behavior differently and how they talked about the experience after they kiss. Apparently, Rachel was so excited to tell her friends, Monica and Phoebe, about the experience. Monica and Phoebe also shared the excitement and asked for more details. Rachel can describe every detail of Ross's hand and her feelings. On the other hand, Ross just told his friends as a matter-of-fact and Joey only cared "tongue?" and no more.
The clear contrast is very funny, and definitely an exaggeration. However, what make this video more interesting are the comments. There is one guy saying, "Trust me, boys can be just as chatty and analyzing on this stuff as you girls. AND, we love friends just as much as you :)" and surprisingly, some other men said he might be gay. This video is definitely stereotyping and I believe some boys may be chatty about this. But when people have reactions towards boys sharing about this, it makes me wonder, maybe, boys don't talk about this because people would think they are being "gay". So even if they wish to share their love affairs, they wouldn't dare to.
As a girl, I have much of the similar experience reflected on the video. We girls just love to talk about our feelings and our relationships! I feel we share less when we grow older, but compare to the boys, we are definitely sharing much more. Sometimes, I love listening to my friends' experience because it means they trust me and look for support from me. And I can often feel for them. So I am a fan to Deborah Tannen's statement that women want supports. Though women are becoming more independent nowadays, many successful women still think a stable family is a signal of success.
Moreover, this video shows how much women can remember the details. This seems to coincide with the video "men's and women's brains" that the women stereotype tend to remember "everything". I don't know about the guys, but I really tend to remember lots of details, like the words a person said and how he or she said it. Nevertheless, some girls can recall more than others, and well, I trust lots of guys remember details too. Maybe, like the test of what sex is your brain, everyone can be on the scale of more feminine to more masculine.
Well, there are still lots to explore! Look forward to next week's class!

your point that men may choose not to communicate in certain ways because they want to conform to social norms and don't want to be mocked as "gay" is a good one. We will address this point later in the course as we deepen our analysis of gender-specific language use.
